Approximately 140 Israeli teachers are currently serving Jewish schools throughout the United States, according to figures compiled here by the Department of Education and Culture of the American Zionist Council. The program of Israeli teachers exchanges is conducted by the department in cooperation with the American Association for Jewish Education.
The Israeli teachers are located in 49 communities in 15 states. They were brought here to serve for periods ranging from two years to four years, after being selected in Israel for their suitability and experience. All possess teachers licenses.
