Jews are the third largest minority in Rumania numbering 144,198, according to statistics published in Bucharest and received here today.

Only 43,263 Jews declared Yiddish to be their mother tongue. The largest Jewish community in the country is Bucharest with 43,492 people. Before World War II, estimates placed the Jewish population at 800,000 in all of Rumania.
