Under an expanding exchange program, 15 Israeli communal workers are scheduled to join the professional staffs of Jewish Community Centers in the United States next month to begin two or three-year periods of service. Their arrival, marking the sixth year of a program sponsored by the National Jewish Welfare Board (JWB), the Youth and Hechalutz Department of the Jewish Agency for Israel and the American Zionist Youth Foundation, will bring to a total of 32 the number of Israelis currently placed at Jewish Community Centers. Seven exchange workers, having completed their assignments, will be returning to Israel. The purpose of the program, which is made possible through the interest of participating Jewish Community Centers and YM-YWHAs affiliated with JWB, is to establish stronger ties between the Centers and Ys in the United States and Israel. In addition, the program provides the Israeli exchange workers with skills and experience applicable in their home communities.
