The arrival today of the first contingent of 150 Jewish displaced persons at Camp Ebelsberg, near Linz, marked the official opening of (##) new U.S. Army-sponsored camp for DP’s in Austria. Army authorities, who announced (##)arrival of the refugees, asserted that the camp will provide a “model community” (##) DP’s who are at present residing in various sections of the American zone of Aus(##)Following the departure of American troops from Ebelsberg, where they were (##)erly housed, officials carried out a large renovation program. Today there are (##)ities for two synagogues, handicraft and vocational training shops and a children’s nursery. The Army announcement said that the opening of the camp was part of (##) policy of extending aid to Jewish displaced persons and refugees.
Meanwhile, a mass demonstration sponsored by all Jewish organizations in Vienna held today to protest Britain’s treatment of the 4,400 Exodus refugees. The meeting adopted a resolution condemning the arrests of Jewish leaders and mayors in Palestine. The meeting expressed its solidarity with the detained Jews in Palestine and with the Exodus Jews.
