About 150,000 Jews are now serving in the U.S. armed forces, it was reported here today by the National Jewish Welfare Board at the opening of a series of conferences to map the JWB program for religious and morale activities among Jews in the armed services in 1959.
More than 240 delegates are attending the meetings which will last four days. The delegates also will decide on the JWB program of cultural and recreational services for its 355 affiliated Jewish Community Centers and their 595,000 members.
