Sixteen members of a Nazi commands unit in charge of extermination of Jews at Auschwitz have been arrested, and a 10,000-mark ($2,500) reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest of the last commander of Auschwitz, as the prosecutor here today started investigating what he called “the total complex” of Nazi activities at the infamous extermination camp at Auschwitz.
It was officially disclosed today that warrants have been issued for at least 37 other Nazi officials who had worked at Auschwitz. One of the warrants is against Richard Baer, a former SS leader who was the last commander of Auschwitz. He is 49 now.
Among those already arrested is Dr, Kurt Uhlenbrock, and Robert Mulka. The latter’s arrest was announced yesterday. Mulka was at one time adjutant to Rudolf Hoess, when the latter was commandant at Auschwitz.
