Success of the tenth annual dinner and ball of the Brooklyn Federation of Jewish Charities, to be held Sunday at the Hotel St. George, was predicted yesterday when Supreme Court Justice Mitchell May, president, announced that 1,600 reservations have already been sold at fifty dollars a plate.
Stars of the stage and screen, it was announced, will appear at the dinner. Dance music will be furnished by the presidential inauguration ball orchestra of Eli Dantzig.
In a telegram of congratulation to Harry Zeitz, dinner and ball chairman, Justice May thanked him for his efforts and said: “We need more money this year than we ever needed to complete the 1934 budget of $500,000. Apparently we are to realize the $90,000 from the dinner and ball that we had planned on raising.”
A special Manhattan committee, under the chairmanship of Morris W. Haft, has sold more than 200 reservations to residents of Manhattan.
