Two brilliant students exiled from Germany will be graduated today with high honors from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, according to a cable received by Dr. A. S. W. Rosenbach, president of the American Friends of the Hebrew University.
Seventeen men will receive the degree of Master of Arts, comprising the fourth graduating class in the history of the institution, which recently began its tenth year.
The two German Jews are Max Schiffer and Raphael Artzi. Schiffer, who was refused a diploma on the eve of his graduation from the University of Berlin last year, is one of a group of former German students supported by a grant from the Central British Fund.
Artzi formerly attended the University of Koenigsberg.
Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope, High Commissioner of Palestine will be guest of honor at today’s exercises, which will take place in the Minnie Untermyer Open Air Theatre, dedicated a year ago, the gift of Samuel Untermyer.
