SINCE 1933, THE YOUTH ALIYAH HAS OBTAINED 1,748 PALESTINE IMMIGRATION CERTIFICATES, A REPORT ISSUED IN BERLIN BY THE YOUTH ALIYAH ASSOCIATION STATES. ALTOGETHER £136,574 WAS COLLECTED FOR THE YOUTH ALIYAH BETWEEN OCTOBER, 1933 AND MARCH, 1937, AND OF THIS SUM £132,132 WAS EXPENDED.
OF THE 1,764 CHILDREN WHO ENTERED PALESTINE ON THE YOUTH ALIYAH CERTIFICATES, 736 HAVE ALREADY COMPLETED THEIR TRAINING, WHILE 1,028 WERE STILL UNDERGOING TRAINING IN DIFFERENT KIBBUTZIM AND INSTITUTIONS. THE 736 CHILDREN WERE TRAINED FOR TWO YEARS EITHER IN THE BEN SHEMEN SETTLEMENT, THE ACHAVA HOME OR IN THE DOMESTIC TRAINING CENTRE OF THE MIZRACHI; THE MAJORITY OF THEM, HOWEVER, RECEIVED THEIR TRAINING IN THE JEWISH SETTLEMENTS. MOST OF THOSE WHO COMPLETED THEIR STUDIES PREFERRED TO CONTINUE WORKING IN GROUPS IN A SPECIALLY SELECTED PLACE. ABOUT 75 PER CENT OF THESE HAVE BEEN SETTLED IN SUCH GROUP SETTLEMENTS. OF THE REMAINING 25 PER CENT, ABOUT 6 PER CENT WENT BACK TO THEIR PARENTS, SOME OF WHOM IN THE MEAN TIME SETTLED IN PALESTINE, AND THE REST OBTAINING EMPLOYMENT IN KINDERGARTENS, OR BECAME STUDENTS. ONLY ABOUT FIVE OR SIX CHILDREN LEFT PALESTINE.
