The festival of Chanukah, which began here this evening, will be celebrated by a capacity audience of more than 18,000 persons at the Chanukah Festival for Israel to be held in Madison Square Garden tomorrow evening under the sponsorship of the Israel Bond Organization. Admission to the event is free to those who purchase Israel bonds.
The first performance of the Chanukah festival has been completely sold out, it was announced today by Charles H. Silver, special assistant to the mayor, who is serving as chairman of the Chanukah Festival Committee. Additional performances will be held on December 17 and January 4. Mass Chanukah celebrations will mark the climax of the 1964 Israel bond campaign in key cities in the United States and Canada. Admission to these events will also be by purchase of Israel bonds.
