In the last five months 1,923 Jewish immigrants were admitted to Canada, according to figures made public today by the Jewish Immigrant Aid Society of Canada. During this period the Society was instrumental in obtaining favorable decisions in 74 cases of rejections at overseas ports and at Canadian ports. Seven Jews were deported during this period.

Few immigrants of other nationalities are now coming to Canada because of the new restrictive regulation. Jewish immigrants are still permitted to enter under permits granted them before the restrictions became operative. This permit will expire in February.

The 1,923 Jewish immigrants were distributed in the Canadian provinces as follows: Quebec, 845; Ontario, 708; Manitoba, 228; Saskatchewan, 61; Alberta, 37; Nova Scotia, 17; New Brunswick, 9; British Columbia, 18.
