Result of Workers Benefit Fund Coming under Government Control (Jewish Telegraphic Agency)
An exodus of Jewish physicians and health workers from the Labor Sick Fund institutes in Hungary was brought about by a change in the law concerning the administration of the fund.
A law recently promulgated called for a change in the administration of the fund by transferring it from the labor organizations to the government. According to one of the provisions of the law, the new administration was authorized to dismiss the old medical staff. As a result of this, 200 physicians of whom 197 are Jews lost their posts. The action of the new administration called forth the protest of the Hungarian Medical Association which issued a statement demanding the re-instatement of the dismissed physicians.
