Two members of the Arab Executive, Jamal Hussein and Edmond Roch, Christian Arab of Jaffa, were sentenced to one month’s imprisonment today, for their connection with the abortive Arab demonstration in Jerusalem on October 13. A third member of the Executive, Muza Faar, was bound over for one year on his own recognizance. He was also ordered to post a bond of one hundrede pounds as security that he would keep the peace. Chief Magistrate Bodilly, who heard the case, imposed the sentences.
The members of the Arab Executive had pleaded, through their attorney, that the Palestine government had not forbidden a procession through the Old City and that it was therefore a lawful assembly. The defense attorney also asserted that his clients had not participated actively in the demonstration and had not incited the Arabs to resist the police.
