Two members of Breira, nominated for membership on the executive council of the Rabbinical. Assembly by its nominating committee, were defeated today for election at the 77th annual convention of the organization of Conservative rabbis. Those defeated were Rabbis Arnold J. Wolf, Jewish chaplain at Yale, who is chairman of Breira, and Rabbi Everett Gendler of Lowell, Mass.
It was the first time in many years that nominations were made by petition against the choice of the organization’s nominating committee. Four candidates were nominated by petition. The nominations created a contest in which the two rabbis were defeated. The nominating committee re-nominated all the present Assembly officers who were re-elected. Rabbi Stanley S. Rabinowitz of Washington, was re-elected president for a second term.
