2 Jews Wounded, Arab Killed

A Jewish auxiliary policeman, Isaac Reizler, was seriously injured when an Arab band ambushed a patrol near Salha, in northern Palestine, where a barbed-wire barricade is being constructed along the Syrian frontier to prevent influx of terrorists. The patrol replied to the attack and drove off the band.

Increased protection of the Iraq Petroleum Company’s pipeline by Jewish patrols is resulting in the defeat of attempts to puncture it. Jewish auxiliary policemen shot dead an armed Arab about to damage the pipe. Four private I.P.C. planes have begun to patrol the pipelines. Arab terrorists set fire to fields at the Jewish colony of Ayelet Hashachar and fired heavily for an hour on settlers fighting the blaze.

A 17-year-old Jew, Simon Averbaum, was fired upon and seriously wounded last evening while walking along the main street of Safed. His assailant escaped.

Britain’s Palestine partition commission continued its in camera sittings today, hearing William D. Battershill, chief government secretary, all morning. Yesterday the commission heard leaders of the orthodox Agudath Israel, including Rabbis Joseph Zvi Dushinsky and Moshe Blau and Dr. Mordecai Buxbaum.
