A government and military inquiry were held Saturday into the accident which occurred on Saturday when two British soldiers were killed and six injured in a collision between an army lorry and a train not far from the Kalkillich station.
The army lorry, driven by an Arab chauffeur, collided at the Kalkillich station with a train proceeding from Haifa to Ludd, at full speed. The occupants of the lorry were hurled from it. The train was stopped, passengers rendering first aid until medical help arrived from Ludd. The wounded and dead were placed on the train and rushed to the hospital at Sarafend.
Mystery surrounds the disappearance of the Arab chauffeur, who received slight injuries. It is understood that a second military inquiry will be held just as soon as Lieutenant Cox, who was injured, is able to testify.
