More than $2 million in State of Israel Bonds were bought here Sunday night as Philadelphians responded to an appeal from Israeli Foreign Minister Abba Eban for support of his country’s war-torn economy. Eban spoke at a reception at the Warwick Hotel under the auspices of the Philadelphia branch of the Prime Minister’s Club, an honorary society established by Premier Golda Meir for exemplary leaders in the Israel Bond campaign. The chairman of the reception was Raymond Klein, vice-president of the Philadelphia club. Herman Gitlow, general chairman for the Israel Bond Organization here, said Philadelphia plans to sell $50 million in Bonds as part of the $1 billion worldwide campaign.
