Twenty Spanish Jews were arrested last night in a raid by Iron Guards and police on the Sephardic Club. All except two were released today. The police seized 208,350 lei found in the possession of the Jews.
The two men detained, De Mayo and Anton Rafael, were accused of directing Communist propaganda among the Jewish population of Bucharest and of having “subversive”leaflets in their possession at the time of the raid. The raiders forced all 20 to give up all their money and open a safe and hand over its contents as well.
