One-fifth of the entire Jewish population of Warsaw has received aid from the Central Jewish Relief Committee during the past year, according to a report of the committee’s activities for the budgetary year 1930-31, just issued. About 9,000 Jewish families, or about 50,000 people, received aid from the Relief Committee, in the form of loans amounting to 1,065,000 zlotys.
Larger loans, in sums from 100 to 500 zlotys, were granted to 3,260 persons, and totalled 721,727 zlotys. Smaller loans were issued to 1,766 persons in the sum of 137,091 zlotys. The Relief Committee also granted charitable aid to 2,022 persons upon a sum of 74,459 zlotys.
