Two hundred scholarships, valued at $100,000, are being offered by the Brandeis Youth Foundation to help prepare youth for leadership in the American-Jewish community, Louis Levine, president of the Foundation, announced here today.
The Foundation, which is named after the late United States Supreme Court Justice, Louis D. Brandeis, who helped found it, has three summer camps at Winterdale, Pennsylvania; Hendersonville, North Carolina; and Santa Susana, California. It also maintains an Arts Institute and a Year-Round-Institute.
The general aim of the Brandeis program is to instill an appreciation of the Jewish cultural heritage and to create a desire for active leadership in communal affairs while stressing the dignity and value of Jewish identity, Mr. Levine said. Candidates for scholarships should be between 18 and 25 years of age and at least high school graduates.
