Twenty thousand young trees were destroyed when a fire of mysterious origin swept through part of the Balfour Forest, planted by the Jewish National Fund in honor of the late Lord Balfour. The fire follows a series of uprootings of trees by vandals in forests planted by Jewish settlers. The police, suspecting an incendiary, are prosecuting an extensive investigation into the causes of the blaze.
