The Jewish Agency announced today that 21,000 immigrants left the camps in November and 13,000 entered them. About 40 percent of those leaving the camps chose to settle on the land.
A local chemical preparation using tar oil assured that 25,000 immigrants who are still living in tents were comparatively dry during the recent downpours, it was learned today. The weatherproof coating was invented by chemists working in cooperation with the camp management department of the Jewish Agency.
A new settlement was founded today in the Negev as a shelter for 50 families who had come from Tunisia. A string of additional new villages will soon be formed in the same area.
