Twenty-two Jews are under arrest for possessing arms in the self-defense corps in Jerusalem, Jaffa and Tel Aviv. Four are charged with murder. The prisoners range in age from 17 to 35 years, and include a father, aged 35, and his 12-year-old son, and another father with his two young sons.

Mr. Miller was released on £500 bail and one son on £300. The magistrate refused to release the other son.

Commenting on the arrest of Samuel Broze, leader of the Jewish community of Motza, who was arrested on the charge of murder and released on £500 bail, as well as Miller of Haifa and his two sons, prominent port contractors, and dozens of other Jews for possessing arms, the “Doar Ha’yom,” an editorial entitled “Ignominy,” declares: “Such official pandering to robbers and murderers was unknown even in Czarist Russia.”

One of the prisoners was forced to sign a report before the investigation was made.
