A party of 220 Hungarian Jews today left for Italy where they will board an Israel vessel which will bring them to Haifa.
The members of the party are the first of some 3,000 Hungarian Jews whom the Hungarian Government has agreed to permit to migrate to Israel. All of them have either children or parents now living in the Jewish state. The largest part of them are elderly people.
Accompanied by two Israel immigration officers, the party boarded a special train which will travel through Austria to Italy. They were permitted to take 5,000 florins worth of general property with them, plus 2,000 florins in jewelry. The head of a family unit was allowed 5,000 florins for himself and 2,500 florins for each dependent for travel expenses.
