Some 22,000 of the immigrants in Israel camps are social service cases requiring special attention, Zvi Herman, director of the Jewish Agency’s Settlement Department, today told newsman.
The 22,000 include chronic invalids, the aged and others whose care requires considerable financial outlay and organizational effort. He pointed out that the Agency has erected 12,000 metal huts in 110 camps and semi-permanent work centers as a partial protection from the winter weather.
