Twenty-three of 40 Nazis on trial here for participation in the extermination of 4,500,000 Jews and others at the Oswiecim death ? were today sentenced to death by the National Tribunal. One defendant was ?itted, while the remaining 14 received prison terms ranging from life to five years.
All of the defendants were officials at the camp. Among those sentenced to death were Artur Lieb-Henschel, who was commandant of the camp for a time, and Max ?bner, the assistant camp commandant. The acquitted man was Dr. Hans Munch.
