The most disastrous year in the history of modern Palestine was ushered out amid continuing violence which claimed the lives of three more Jews, raising the toll for the Hebrew year of 5698 to 237 killed and more than 500 wounded.
Two Jews were killed Sunday in Arab ambuscades on the border of Tel Aviv. The victims were Salman Goldenberg, 30, an immigrant from Russia, and Shalom Shapiro, 24, of Poland. Abraham David Cohen, who was shot by an Arab sniper in Jerusalem Sep. 20, died this morning. Two other Jews, Town Clerk Nedivi of Tel Aviv and Police Corporal Saul Weisinger, 30, were shot and wounded while returning from the Lydda airport.
