Twenty-four displaced Jews in the U.S. zone of Germany were this week-end convicted of charges of disorderly conduct and sentenced to two weeks in jail by an American military court at Ulm, Bavaria. The defense council protested the sentences, asserting that the Jews had reacted justifiably to the Moslem’s anti-Jewish acts and statements at the meeting, which culminated a week of clashes following the U.N. decision to partition Palestine. In effect the DP’s will be freed because they have already spent more than two weeks in prison waiting for their trial.
