Two hundred and fifty German Jewish children will be adopted here by the New England Women’s Division of the American Palestine Campaign, it was announced today. The estimated cost per chil will be eighty dollars.

Thiry-five women’s groups of greater Boston are represented in the New England Division. A campaign for $20,000 will be officially launched Thursday afternoon, February 8, at the Boston Street Temple Center.

According to the proposel plan, which aims to settle, the children will be placed in various schools, homes and institutions, where they will be cared for, trained and educated for future life in that country. The plan provides for elementary and secondary education in cities and colonies. The training will embrace agricultural pursuits, trades, domestic sciences and various courses at the Hebrew University.

The elementary and secondary schools are equipped to admit about 32,000 children. Approximately one thousand boys and girls between the ages of fifteen and eighteen can be placed in the various agricultural settlements. The rest will be given opportunities in the trade and domestic science schools.

Rabbi Harry Levi of Temple Israel, in addressing the first meeting of the representatives of the women’s organizations, made, an eloquent plea for the support of the project

TRAGEDY OF PARENTS

“What is happening to the children of Germany is worse than what is happening to the grown folks,” Rabbi Levi said. “The tragic fact is that Jewish parents have been found willing lo give up their children. These German Jewish fathers and mothers see no hope in Germany. They arc perfectly willing to have them go anywhere where they will be sympathetically led by those who understand and whose hearts respond.”

Mrs. Ely Feibelman, president of the League for Jewish Women’s Organizations, was elected chairman of the Women’s Division. Other officers elected include the Mmes. Samuel S. Altman, Julian Ansell, Jennie Loit-man Barron, Robert J. Culbcrt, Herbert B. Ehrmann, Lewis Goldberg and David H. Shulman, vice-chairmen; Miss Sara Mock, treasurer; Mrs. Hannah Gallant, assistant treasurer; Dr. Anna Mintz, Secretary, and Dr. Frances Btirnce, assistant secretary.
