Twenty-five thousand more Jews were deported from Rumania to Transnistria in the middle of October, it is reported in the Bukarester Zeitung reaching here today. The Nazi newspaper also reports that many Jewish leaders recently were sent from Bucharest to the concentration camp at Targuzu. It states, however, that Dr. William Filderman, the most prominent Jewish leader in Rumania, is still in Bucharest.
Rumanian-Jewish circles in Palestine today received information that six small boats carrying 318 Jews recently left Rumanian harbors for unknown destinations. The report reveals that although Jews are not officially permitted to leave Rumania, it is still possible to secure an exit permit from Rumanian authorities by paying $200 for it. About $2,000 is usually paid for passage on a sailing vessel willing to carry Jewish passengers to Turkish or other shores.
