More than $250,000 in Israel bonds were purchased in honor of Dr. Joseph J. Schwartz, vice-president of the Israel Bond Organization, at a reception last night held in the home of District Attorney Edward S. Silver, Brooklyn. The reception was attended by 40 of Brooklyn’s top civic, communal and business leaders who accorded tribute to Dr. Schwartz.
Mr. Silver, who is chairman of the Brooklyn Bond committee, announced that the quarter-of-a-million dollars in Israel bonds purchased at the reception marked the beginning of Brooklyn’s “most intensive” effort to help the people of Israel win their economic independence.
