The Palestine Post, the Holy Land’s only English-language daily, and the Hebrew laborite daily, Davar, were suspended today by the Government for one day.
Earlier, another Hebrew daily, Hadashot Ahronoth, was suspended for five days, reportedly for declaring in an editorial that the Government was using its “huge imported military machine” to “restore the fame of Arab leaders” rather than restore order.
The authorities arrested 36 Arabs, charging 15 of them with sabotaging Iraq Petroleum Company pipelines. Houses of a number of Arabs were demolished in reprisal for damage to pipelines.
Bombs exploded in Nazareth and Gaza, causing slight damage.
