300 Jewish Refugees from Shanghai Expected at San Francisco; Aided by JDC and Usna

A group of 253 Jewish refugees from Shanghai who are arriving in this country as quota immigrants are aboard the transport General Gordon which is scheduled to dock at San Francisco today, the United Service for New Americans announced. In addition there are 49 more refugees aboard who are travelling through the U.S. en route to Central and South America.

The newcomers will be met at the pier by representatives of USNA, the local Committee for Emigres and the National Council of Jewish Women. Immigration and transportation arrangements were made for the refugees in Shanghai by the Joint Distribution Committee.
