Weizmann Week of the New York Campaign of the United Palestine Appeal ended last night with a dinner tendered by the Bensonhurst Division to Dr. Chaim Weizmann, president of the World Zionist Organization, at the Bensonhurst Jewish Community House. Contributions totalling $30,000 were announced by Samuel Kramer, chairman of the $60,000 campaign, who presided as toastmaster.
Dr. Weizmann, Federal Judge Grover M. Moscowitz, chairman of the Brooklyn Division, Rabbi Nachman H. Ebin of Congregation Sons of Israel and Mrs. Adolph Slomka, president of the Brooklyn Chapter of Hadassah, were the speakers.
More than 450 guests, the largest gathering in Brooklyn this year in the interest of the Palestine Appeal, attended the banquet, of which Leon Luft was chairman.
Two contributions of $5,000 each were received from Isaac Meister and Irwin S. and Henry I. Chanin. Lee Levy and Morris L. Baird pledged $4,000; Bensonhurst Hadassah, $1,500; Mr. and Mrs. A. Kaplan and Abraham Mazer, $1,000 each.
