At least $30,000,000 will be required to extend reception assistance to the 28,000 Jews from Cyprus who will begin to enter Palestine after the expiration of the Mandate, Dr. Israel Goldstein, national chairman of the United Palestine Appeal, said last night at a dinner in his honor. He emphasized that most of the funds will haw to be raised In the U.S.
The $30,000,000, he declared, will cover the costs of food, clothing, medical care equipment and small loans for the new immigrants, “all of whom are destitute, and many of whom are sick with fatigue and despair of two decades of wandering.”
