The trial of the Djerada pogromists ended over the week-end without the imposition of death sentences. The Moroccan pogroms in 1948, following the Palestine partition decision of the United Nations General Assembly, resulted at Djerada in the death of 35 Jews, for which the defendants stood accused. Ten of the defendants were sentenced to hard labor in prison for life, three drew 20-year terms, 15 got sentences of varying lengths and 31 were acquitted.
