Twelve members of the graduating class of the Hebrew Union College–Jewish In stitute of Religion were ordained as Reform rabbis and two invested as cantors yesterday at the Reform seminary commencement exercises here yesterday. The Cincinnati branch of the Seminary ordained 21 graduates as rabbis.
Honorary degrees were awarded in New York to former New York Supreme Court Justice Emil N. Baar, honorary lifetime chairman of the Reform Union of American Hebrew Congregations, Dr. Horace M. Kallen, professor emeritus of the New School for Social Research, and Mrs. Anna M. Kross, New York City Commissioner of Correction, Rabbis Morris N. Kertzer, Edward Klein, Leo Lichtenberg and Samuel M. Silver also received honorary degrees.
