More than 350 leaders in the communal, business, professional and political life of the metropolis have joined the committee sponsoring a testimonial dinner to be given Aldermanic President Bernard S. Deutsch, it was announced yesterday by Harry M. Warner, chairman of the committee of sponsors.
The dinner is to be held May 7 at the Hotel Commodore and has been arranged in recognition of Mr. Deutsch’s services for six years as president of the American Jewish Congress, from which office he retired last month, owing to the pressure of his official duties.
By stipulation of Mr. Deutsch, the dinner is to benefit the work of the American Jewish Congress, more particularly its anti-Nazi activities.
The Jewish community in Dublin is one of the oldest of those which have been founded in Great Britain since the Resettlement, having been established in the first half of the eighteenth century.
