Approximately 40,000 Jews of New York cast their votes last Sunday, June 24, in the election of delegates to the American Jewish Congress. The elections were also held in a number of other cities from which reports are not yet available.
Those cities which did not hold elections last Sunday will continue the work throughout the summer and by the time the American Jewish Congress convenes October 14th it is expected that every city will have elected its representative.
Despite the intense hdat which prevailed in the city last Sunday, there was a lively interest exhibited in the elections. The campaign in Brownsville was particularly vigorous and the contest among the candidates was very keen.
The ballots are now being counted in the respective districts of the City and the result will be announced next week.
