More than 42,000 garment workers, Jews and non-Jews, were called upon today to participate In shop collections, in 1,200 factories, and to sign an Honor Roll certificate to be forwarded to the Histadrut, Israel’s Federation of Labor, as a tribute to the 10th anniversary of the State of Israel. The workers are all members of New York locals of the union cloak makers.
The collections are sponsored by the American Trade Union Council for Histadrut. Proceeds will go toward the support of medical, vocational training, cultural and rehabilitation services of the Histadrut among the new Immigrants in Israel. A proclamation to the 1,200 shop chairmen was Issued by Isidore Nagler, general manager of the Cloak Joint Board of the International Ladies’ Garment Workers Union.
