More than 4,800 Arabs have been allowed to settle in Israel between the establishment of the State in 1948 and June 1, 1954, according to an official announcement issued here today. Of the total, 1,750 were from Jordan; approximately 2,270 from Lebanon; 150 from Syria; and 620 from Egypt. Since January 1, 1951, residence permits have been issued to 1,200 Arabs who entered Israel illegally.
