The final five winners of the Israel Prize, Israel’s most prestigious award, were announced by the Ministry of Education and Culture today. The names of 12 other winners were announced several weeks ago.
According to today’s announcement, the recipients are Dr. Pinhas Rosen, in the field of law; Prof. Shmuel N. Risenstadt, social sciences; Prof. Richard Stein, medicine; Shaul Avigur, special contributions to the advancement of the State; and the Yad Vashem’s registry of communities for research work on the Holocaust. The Ministry said that 15 of this year’s 17 prizes are in the categories of the arts and sciences.
