Urgent appeals describing the critical position of more than 500 Jewish refugees stranded on the Italian-controlled island of Rhodes for elmost a year have been received here. The refugees were said to be desperate and threatening to try to reach some asylum in small boats. Efforts were being made to find some means of relief for the refugees. All attempts so far to arrange their departure have failed.
