Fifty-five hundred immigration certificates have been granted by the Palestine Government instead of the 12,750 demanded by the Jewish Agency, it is learned here. The number includes one thousand issued for German Jews. The Agency is continuing determined efforts to obtain a larger number of the certificates.

Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister, Secretary of State for the Colonies, who is now touring in Galilee, yesterday afternoon visited the village of Rosh-Pinah, where a reception was held for him. Neighboring Arab villages also participated in the welcome.

One of the sheikhs, in a speech declared that the Arabs want cooperation with the Jews from whom they have learned much, particularly in the field of agriculture. In replying, Sir Philip expressed pleasure at the signs of Arab-Jewish friendship, and praised the work of the Rothschilds in the upbuilding of the country. He later visited some kvutzoth (collective farm colonies) including Kfargun where there are a number of German chalutzim (settlers).
