Broadway is making “book” on the potential Pulitzer Prize play winners, to be announced May 6. Among the Jewish contenders are Lilian Hellman’s “The Children’s Hour,” rated at nine to five; Clifford Odets’ “Awake and Sing,” a five to two chance; S. N. Behrman’s “Rain from Heaven,” which seems to be a good long shot at twelve to one; Raphaelson’s “Accent on Youth,” Kaufman’s “Merrily We Roll Along,” and Melvin Levy’s “Gold Eagle Guy,” at respectively twenty, twenty-five and thirty to one.
