Members of a 60-man delegation of American Jews active in campaigns for the Histadrut in the United States were today received at the Jewish Agency by chairman Berl Locker and executive member Zalman Shazar.
Mr. Locker reviewed the progress of the Jewish State and pointed out that “in everything you see here there is American Jewish assistance.” However, he pointed out that much work must still be done in rehabilitating Jewish immigrants and in building up the state. He and Mr. Shazar urged the delegation members to continue their work in the U.S. in behalf of Israel.
Later the delegation presented the Jerusalem Zoo with a number of animals sent by the City of New York and the Bronx Zoo as a gift to Israel. The members laid a wreath on the tomb of the late Eliezer Kaplan, Israel’s first Finance Minister. Afterwards they were received by Minister of Finance Levi Eshkol and Minister of Labor Golda Myerson.
