600 Attend First Paris Meeting in Connection with World Jewish Congress

Six hundred people attended the first meeting held here last night in connection with the world Jewish congress which is scheduled to be summoned for the summer of 1934.

The meeting was convened under the auspices of the Federation of Jewish Societies. Addresses were made by Dr. Nahum Goldmann of Berlin, a leader in the congress movement; J. Jefroikin, Leon Bernheim and Albert Cremieux.

Messages of greeting were received from a number of leading personages.

Committees to organize the election of representatives to the World Jewish Congress scheduled for the summer of 1934, have been formed in Austria and Czecho-Slovakia according to information received at the offices of the American Jewish Congress from Dr. Nahum Goldmann, who is in charge of the central office of the Executive Committee for the organization of the World Jewish Congress.

The report which has also been circulated among the members of the Executive Committee, states that Dr. Goldmann is proceeding with the establishment of the central office in Berlin and that public meetings were recently held at Prague and Vienna where Dr. Goldmann, Dr. Isaac Gruenbaum and Dr. Emil Margulies reported on the procedings of the World Conference.

M. J. Jefroykin, of France, a member of the Executive Committee, will visit South America, including Brazil and Argentine and will report on the World Jewish Conference to the Jewish communities in both these countries.

Dr. Goldmann expects to spend some time in England the latter part of October and from there will proceed to Poland to help in setting up World Congress committee there.

The American Jewish Congress reports that the complete minutes of the World Conference have already gone to press and should be available sometime early in November.

Several meetings at which the American delegates to the World Conference will make their reports are scheduled to be held in Philadelphia, Washington, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Chicago and Cleveland.
