Canadian Prime Minister John Diefenbaker will address the 34th national convention of the Zionist Organization of Canada here tomorrow. More than 600 delegates from all parts of the Dominion are attending the four-day parley.
Last night, Dr. Nahum Goldmann, president of the World Zionist Organization, in an address to the convention outlined the major problems facing the Zionist movement in the next ten years as: The emergence in Israel of Oriental Jews and the resolution of problems raised by the intransigeance of the Orthodox elements and intense political partisan ship: the economic problems which will swell in importance as German reparations payments and American economic assistance wanes the widening gulf between Israel and the Arab states of the Middle East, and the necessity for a close partnership between Israel and Jews abroad.
Israel’s Ambassador to Canada, Arthur Lourie, speaking of the significance of Israel’s tenth anniversary, said that the achievements of the Jewish State in the last ten years had exceeded the realistic expectations at the moment of its establishment.
