Seven Jews have been severely wounded here since Sunday in a number of brutal attacks made by anti-Semitic vandals. On Sunday a band of young hooligans, thought to be university students, carrying anti-Semitic leaflets, attacked Jewish grocers, pouring flaming acids into many Jewish shops.
In two Jewish grocery stores in Akademica street, the anti-Semitic band poured acids over the goods and then escaped after locking the doors. The grocer Dych-field and his wife, 65, and the grocer Friedmann and his wife were severely injured when their clothes became ignited by the flames.
The cries of the victims brought neighbors to their assistance. The doors were broken down and the victims were removed to hospitals in serious condition.
At the same time three Jewish students were severely injured in an attack on Grodeck street by a number of Polish students. One Jewish student, Roth, escaped the attackers.
None of the assailants were caught by police.
