A group of 671 immigrants landed here this morning from the Rumanian liner Transylvania, out of Constanza. The passengers included 170 Rumanian Jews, who are the first to come to Israel from Rumania since December, 1948. Among them were youths of 20 to 28 years who are joining their parents in Israel.

About 180 persons on board had been scheduled to sail from Constanza a fortnight ago on an Israel ship, but were prevented from sailing by the Rumanian authorities, on the ground that their exit visas were valid only for travel on Rumanian ships.

It is understood here from immigration authorities that the Rumanian Government is easing slightly restrictions on Jewish emigration and has recently issued about 3,000 exit permits. The Transylvania will make three voyages from Constanza to Haifa, it is reported, taking to Israel all approved emigrants.
